Though Halloween falls on the last day of the month, October is often consumed by the holiday. People of all ages are planning their costumes, sipping pumpkin spice lattés and carpeting their homes and offices in spooky decorations. With such a theme bearing down on us from every angle, we thought it only appropriate to embrace it and let it all flow into our writing.
Join us for Coffee + Writing on Saturday, October 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the downtown Kaladi Bros. café. Need some inspiration? Check out the History channel’s archive of ancient Halloween origins and traditions, including long-standing superstitions and symbols. Or, try to channel some Sylvia Plath — after all, we will be meeting on her birthday, and her final dark days might be perfectly in line with the story you have in mind. But if you’d like to think outside the “BOO!” box, perhaps you could find that writerly spark in the works of Dylan Thomas, who shares a birthday with Plath (though he, too, met an unfortunate end…)
Whatever suits your fancy, we’d love to have you with us.
Hope to see you soon!
